Polar Regions

At the ends of the earth …. Shimmering glaciers, swathes of noisy chattering penguins, polar bears balancing on giant icebergs, 24 hour daylight (or darkness!) and the ultimate in extreme adventure!  Whether it’s North Pole or South, the Arctic Circle or an Antarctic Cruise, the polar regions will give you an experience of a lifetime.

Cruise ships come in many shapes and sizes and depending which parts of the polar regions you are planning to visit, there are advantages for all types.  Smaller ships (up to 100 passengers) are generally better suited to polar waters as they can get closer to land masses and deploy the smaller zodiacs with ease to offer trekking, kayaking and other activities.

Ask me about the range of options for polar voyages to frozen parts of our planet – you can even join National Geographic Expedition vessels or get involved in conservation initiatives such as Penguin Population Mapping, Polar Bear Studies, the Albatross Campaign or Scott’s Polar Research Institute.

Other attractions of the polar regions include Lapland, the Northern Lights (and Southern Lights!), Polar Bears in Canada or Spitzbergen, the vast wilderness of Greenland and the Alaska ‘outback’, snow shoeing, dog sledding, reindeer herding ….. it’s an adventure destination extravaganza!

There are a great many options for travel in both polar regions, so ask me what is the best option for your dreams of the ‘lands of ice and snow’.

Why not visit ...

Greenland

The world's largest island sitting to the north east of Canada, Greenland sits three quarters in with the Arctic Circle and is mainly covered by ice. An extreme adventure destination you can dog sled, kayak and stay with the local people in this fascinating country.

Antarctica

Until recent years, getting to the world’s frozen continent was left to those great explorers and adventurers who had time to devote to pioneering expeditions that sometimes were gone for years at a time. Now you can join expedition cruises.

Arctic

Holidays in the Arctic circle are always an adventure and a must for lovers of photography and natural history. Travelling by small ship with an experienced expedition leader float through a myriad of float ice and get up close and personal with Arctic Wildlife such as polar bears, Arctic Foxes, Seals and Walrus, Whales and Porpoises.
