Aegean Family Cruise

This is a fantastic way to spend time with your family on board a traditional Greek Caique, visiting fishing villages, historic sites and swimming and snorkelling in the beautiful Aegean Sea. Plenty of excursions are taken on land

Evia is a huge Greek island almost attached to the mainland! It is close to Athens but retains it’s authentic charm and culture. Explore sandy beaches, remote coves and bays, a spectacular fjord and private islands. The boat, a traditional ‘Caique’ is 16 metres long by 5 metres wide and there are 6 compact twin cabins with bunk beds below deck. There is one 4 berth cabin and a breakfast / eating area upstairs.  With room to relax and stretch on the sun deck there are mats provided and part of the deck can be shaded.  There will be plenty of time for swimming!

Flights will be direct and tranfers and ferries are included in the price.  The group size will be minimum 8 people, maximum 12 plus the leader and crew.  Usually there are two or three families which fill the boat – this is a designated families only departure and runs from late July through August and then again at the end of October for the half term holidays.

Children should be able to swim and triple cabins are not available. It can get very hot so make sure everyone has good protection from the sun and drinks plenty of water.

Fly to Athens and ferry to Karystos where you board the boat. The next day you sail to Bouos bay for a swim then back to Karystos where you visit the Venetian castle in the mountains, Castello Rosso.  Cruise to Eretria and optional visit to Halkis the historic capital of Evia.  Then to Porto Buffalo for swimming off the boat and on to Eretria.  Optional museum and ancient ruins visits. Cruise on to lively Styra which is great for lovers of seafood! Then visit the private Petali islands, once the summer home of the Greek Royal Family.  Visit Maramari with an option walk on Zastani’s sand bar.  Cruise to Mnima Bay for the last swim off the boat and back to Karystos for your last night.  The final morning will be free for swimming and shopping then you fly home from Athens.

If you want, extend your stay!  Ask me about family villas or great little hotels in Greece to make your family holiday stretch another week in the sun.
