Antarctica, Falklands and South Georgia
20 days covering the amazing wildlife destinations off shore from Argentina through to the Antarctic continent. Board ship from Ushuaia and sail to the Falkland Islands visiting the huge populations of Rockhopper and Magellanic Penguins and Black-Browed Albatross. Penguins are found all over this region, check out the details of these endearing birds on the seperate Penguins page!
Taking in also the history of the islands you then continue to sail to South Georgia where, buried under amazing ice topped mountains, is the explorer Ernest Shackelton. Heading then through beautiful fjords to Salisbury Plain and Gold Harbour which are home to over 100,000 King Penguins on their remote beaches. Also here you will find large numbers of Fur and Elephant Seals.
Continuing through the South Orkney and Shetland Islands (no, you are not in Scotland!), you approach the world of ice on the Antarctic Peninsula where you will see many species of penguins, seals and three or four whale species. Heading back through the famous Drake Passage you end your epic journey back at Ushuaia.
These expeditions take place from November to February in a variety of ships with different types of cabins and levels of comfort – ask me for the right Antarctic Expedition or Cruise to suit you.
Why not add on some time exploring Argentina before heading home?
