Culture of Bosnia – Herzegovina – Montenegro

This is a small group 10 night culture and sightseeing holiday which includes Croatia, Montenegro, & Bosnia-Herzegovina.  Travelling on good roads in a private bus you will have the opportunity for some gentle walking too.  Walks are optional but the trip is suitable for anyone.

For centuries Bosnia & Herzegovina and Montenegro have been crossroads of ancient civilisations, with a magical mixture of European and Near Eastern culture. These are very friendly, welcoming countries and you will see the diversity of vibrant cities, oriental influence in places like Mostar and Sarajevo with the traditional way of rural life in tranquil tiny hamlets where life has not changed in years. A mix of tradtions, religions and architecture are all found here. This is a region steeped with natural beauty from rugged peaks and ancient forests to the gorgeous clear waters of the Adriatic coastline.  Dubrovnik is also a must see city in Croatia with fabulous pavement cafes, architecture and beaches.

Summary Itinerary

Day 1   Fly from UK to Dubrovnik and drive to Kotor in Motenegro

Day 2  City tour and boat ride to Gospa od Skrpjela and Perast Islands in the Bay of Kotor.

Day 3  City tour in Cetinje after transfer then drive to Durmitor National Park which is a UNESCO site and visit the Ostrog Monastery on the way.

Day 4  Today you will take gentle walks around the Zablijak Plateau which has traditional highland villages and numerous lakes.

Day 5  Transfer to Piva River which is on the border with Bosnia & Montenegro.  Lunch and a short walk along this beautiful river then drive to Sarajevo.

Day 6  City tour including the Sarajevo Tunnel Museum.

Day 7  Drive to Lukomir which is the highest inhabited village in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a gentle three hour walk to the canyon.

Day 8  Mostar with sightseeing and city tour.

Day 9  Visit Pocitelj Ottoman town, Kravica Waterfalls and nearby Blagaj village.

Day 11   Fly to London
