Whales & Leopards Sri Lanka

A small group trip following the coastline of Sri Lanka from Colombo down the west coast round the south west corner and along the south to Yala, concentrating on the wildlife of the island, especially whales and leopards!

Many people are only just learning of the extraordinary phenomenon of the huge Blue and Sperm whales arriving in numbers just off the south coast. A Blue whale is the size of a couple of London buses but much more streamlined and photogenic! Seen from the sea on a privately chartered boat, it is a marine experience without parallel.

This tour divides its time between these exciting navigations and Yala, several hours away, with one of the highest concentrations of leopards in the world as well as plenty of marvellously coloured birdlife. This will be an intense safari but with a bit of downtime as well, and there are few better places for this than Sri Lanka.

Day 1  Depart London.

Day 2  Arrive Colombo; transfer to hotel in Mirissa.

Day 3 – 4  Two days of whale watching in the mornings and a chance to relax (or play cricket on the beach!) in the afternoons.

Day 5  Transfer to Yala Village; afternoon game drive in the famous national park.

Day 6 – 7 Four game drives over the course of these two days will give you plenty of opportunity to see all the park has to offer, including leopard!

Day 8  Morning game drive; transfer back to Mirissa.

Day 9  A third whale watching trip; transfer to a hotel close to Colombo airport.

Day 10 Fly to London.

Prices for 2012 – 2013 range from £1,999 – £2,599 per person and the tours run from around November through to April each year.
