Take your children to experience new cultures and learn about history and exploration, wonder at wildlife and maybe learn local crafts and skills. Trek though mountain villages in Morocco, cycle in France, sail round Turkey, snorkel with turtles or dolphins, camp out in the desert, learn how to track with the Maasai in Kenya, have a go at Aboriginal painting in Australia, play cowboys and Indians in America or how about learning to make pizza in Italy? Take your children to the amazing winter wonderland of Lapland to see Santa or ride a reindeer sleigh!  Half term is a popular time for family skiing holidays or maybe you want some winter sun in February?

I often get asked when is the right age to take children on an African Safari or where is the best place to go for family friendly wildlife interaction.  For very young children it’s best to stick to non-malarial areas of South Africa but from about age 8 upwards, there are specialist family safari options all over the continent.  Zambia has some amazing family houses and specially adapted camps and some great options in South Luangwa for family safaris combining bush skills, local culture and wildlife. In Botswana there is a ‘Young Explorers’ club which teaches children how to fire a bow and arrow, fish from a dugout canoe and bake in a bush oven.  Kenya has lots of family friendly camps and chances for your children to mix with the Maasai and learn bush craft and meet others their age.

Asia is great value for money and has something to interest families of all ages. Thailand and Malaysia offer fabulous beaches, tropical jungles combined with elephant treks, meeting Orang Utans or learning to cook local foods. Have a look at the fabulous Elephant Hills experience where you can wash and feed the animals.  If you have 3 weeks or more, let me help you plan the trip of a lifetime ‘down under’.  Australia offers a huge range of experiences for children from snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef to cooking on a billy can in the outback or cuddling a koala!

USA and Canada offer a huge number of options for active families. I can arrange a self drive if you want to hire a motorhome maybe tour around the parks and canyons of the ‘wild west’ or travel through California. Theme parks are always popular in Los Angeles and of course Florida, but if you want a large villa then book early as summer in particular in Florida is in demand.  If you want something more adventurous and to escape the crowds of Disney then maybe consider a Ranch Holiday?  There are loads of family friendly options throughout the States, White Stallion Ranch in Arizona is one option (which also combines well with a self drive around the Grand Canyon region).  Camping adventures in the parks are also popular holidays and in Canada you can take your family to Niagara Falls or into the parks for outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking and camping.

Some of the family adventures I can organise involve you spending time with other families in villages or on volunteer projects around the world in places such as Morocco or Vietnam for example.

Being independent, I can offer you a great range of activity and adventure holidays to suit all ages and family sizes.  There are organised tours focused on families which help with the budget and let your children mix with others of a like minded background. Some tours are geared to teenagers, some to younger children and there are single parent departures too. If you prefer to do your own thing I can create a tailor made holiday just for your family.
